Barrowland Ballroom Glasgow was first founded in 1934 by “Barras Queen” Maggie McIver, who’d only recently set up the Barras Market as a safe space for barrow traders to work.

The Ballroom became her next project when she found her favourite hawkers Christmas dance and meal was fully booked – so the legend goes. It opened on Christmas Eve, and has since grown into an internationally renowned venue that has played host to stars like Bowie, Biffy Clyro, The Clash, The Smiths, Muse, Foo Fighters, Franz Ferdinand and Texas.

You’re invited to a backstage tour of the Barrowland Ballroom, which will give you an up-close look at the dressing room where so many have sat and waited to light up the stage.

Tours take place throughout the day on Sunday 19th September. Book your slot from Wednesday 1st September.
