Current CV19 Safety Measures for all Barrowland Shows are as follows:
1. Please use the CV19 QR barcode, which will be on display outside the venue or leave name and contact number with steward on register at front door.
Note: If you can’t scan the barcode, having your details on a piece of paper ready will help speed up the process.
2. Everyone will be temperature checked before entry.
3. Wear a mask at all times but it can be removed for eating, drinking and dancing.
Note: If you are “mask exempt” please have the card displayed on a lanyard so stewards and other customers can see it.
4. Stay in your personal bubble as much as possible.
5. Please respect other peoples’ personal space wherever possible.
6. It is a “recommendation”, (not mandatory) to take an LFT up to 48 hours before show.
Please note some artists are demanding more safety measures and if there are any changes, we will try and post them but we recommend you visit the artist’s site, before any show.
Be well, be safe, enjoy the music x
No we can’t legally make you help stop other people from being afraid but you can be refused entry or stewards can legally remove you from the building if you do not show proof of the mask exemption to a steward when asked.
Your call.
Flying up from Birmingham to see Gun in December. What’s the situation up there at present. Getting mixed messages.
There are no mixed messages from us, you need proof that you are fully vax’d or medically/age exempt.
since when did this come into effect? i have a concert on the 14th and i’m not vaccinated.
This has been in effect for over a month and people had 2 months notice in the press, social media etc
Sorry but if you do not have proof of 2 x vaccinations or medical/age exemption you will not be allowed in if checked.
Hi, must the NHS Passport App be downloaded for entry or can I just show my downloaded vaccine certificate?
at present we are accepting paper/PDF copies
After today’s announcement about Vaccine passports….Im unvaxxed, will I be denied entry to future gigs I have tickets for?
If the legal requirement by government is a vaccine I would assume so but we are waiting for a clear direction from government. Thanks for your patience.
Will you provide me with a refund if I cannot now attend gigs? To be honest I would not want to see bands that agree with this attack on our freedoms anyway.
You need to speak to the point of purchase.
Ticket sellers are taking no responsibility for the health passports mandate, they are not asking anyone for proof before purchasing a ticket. It is the venue who require to see the passports for entry so you would be liable for refund if I am no longer allowed entry to YOUR venue . Can you provide me with the name of the manager I should write to to request this.
Thank you for your help
The venue hires the room to a promoter and the safety measures are decided in conjunction with the promoters, artists, health and safety and staff, and within the legal mandate of the Scottish Government government.
If you cannot attend the “point of purchase”, not the venue hold the funds until the show, then they are passed to the promoter and artist.
If you strongly feel you want a refund it is the point of purchase that have the ability to issue it, not the venue, until the show is performed, then it is the artist and/or promoter, not the venue you need to be contact.
Good luck.
What’s the requirements to gain entry? We have nothing but thieves on the 11th? Up till now it’s still at QR code will that be the same requirements by then? Kind regards M
At present we are sticking with our current restrictions until 18 Oct but that may get turned in its head if the Gov clarify the message from yesterday, which was not clear so we cannot guarentee that!
Note: The Gov website has not yet been changed to confirm the extension or give guidance.
I will repeat again, the best way to ensure entry to gigs after Thursday or 18 Oct is to have proof of 2 vaccinations.
PCRs are not mentioned on the Gov website so at present they will no longer be accepted. We are hoping this gets changed, as many in the the industry have requested.
If you are still concerned you may not get in to a show you can either sell your tickets or ask for a refund.
Sorry if this is not a great answer but we have to abide by the law as it is presented to us and after 2 years, if crew, bands and staff not having a wage, we cannot risk fines or closure.
Thanks for your patience and understanding and as soon as we get any info we will post it!
Is there anything I should know about before the Nothing but theives gig? Re. Produce Covid passport from 1st Oct etc. Or is an LFT neg result 48 hours before still sufficient?
https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-mandatory-vaccine-certification/
It’s good to see that you are not requesting proof of vaccination (yet), but it is shame that there will be an expectation for people to show “proof” of their mask exemption by wearing a lanyard for everyone else to see. It isn’t anyone’s responsibility to “help stop other people from being afraid” – their fear is their own. The decision not to wear a mask is personal choice and might not always come from being “medically exempt” but will almost always come from a place of health autonomy. There are many people who have very valid reasons not to wear a mask aside from illness. Regardless of the reason for not wearing a mask (medically exempt or not), people may want to keep that to themselves. It appears data protection has gone out the window for the “new normal” and people now have to label themselves as having a “health condition” so as to have their decisions respected. Not to mention, a lanyard is in no way “proof” of anything, so it’s a completely performative measure that makes no sense whatsoever and only serves the purpose of displaying the venue’s compliance with government agenda. Personally I’m on the verge of cancelling tickets I have at Barrowland over this, which is a shame because it has been the heart and soul of the Glasgow music scene for a long time. Unfortunately measures like this will alienate a lot of people – fans and musicians alike. And it won’t be forgotten.
Mask Exemptions
I have had some polite and not so polite emails, comments, messages and posts about mask exemptions, and our request that people wear them displayed on a lanyard.
We are asking people to show them on a lanyard, not because we wish to embarrass people but so that we avoid you being hassled by stewards and other staff, who will be enforcing mask mandates.
We also want to stop potential attacks on you for not wearing a mask, and create an environment where other fans can feel safe.
I fully understand that people may feel uncomfortable wearing a lanyard but we do strongly consider it will prevent needless fear and stress for you, other fans and staff.
Thanks for your understanding and hope you and other fans enjoy the show, without avoidable fear or stress.

I will be in touch with the Disability Law Centre regarding this .
And my local Mp and Msp.
Totally unacceptable comments from an Admin person that clearly doesn’t understand or chooses to ignore the law regarding the Equality Act 2010.
The policies are set by the venue in consultation with government, promoters, staff, health and safety experts and the artists.
The “admins” have zero control over policy, they are just the messenger.
The venue, promoter and artists all have a legal obligation to keep all members of staff and customers safe, and they set the standards.
You are within your right to complain or ask for a refund if you do not like the safety measures but they remain until a team of experts provide an updated set of procedures or Government changes the law.
Im just glad to finally get back in to see a gig and if that means i have to wear a mask or have a LFT then i will do it in a heartbeat! Some people will just moan no matter what you do….if you don’t like it then just stay home and let the rest of us enjoy ourselves x
Thank you
I live in Madrid now and our ice rink has been a mortuary twice and our neighbour’s Mum died last week so I am struggling to remain polite, and people do not see the vile comments we don’t allow.
Like you ands most the population, I will do anything needed to make people safe and keep the venue from closing again, I wish others were as considerate as you.
Enjoy the music x
Thanks again.
Attending’The Specials’ tonight, are there any additional requirements for entry ie proof of double vax, neg test etc?
Just masks, temperature check and scan the CV19 app barcode before entry
Hi there.
The recommendation is to take a LFT.I am attending the Specials gig.
What requirement from the security staff is there to ask of proof of this or is there no proof required?
Thanks
No proof required, as it is only a recommendation.
Hi , will I be able to attend the nothing but thieves gig on the 11th of October without a vaccine passport if I take a lateral flow test?
No, unless the Scottish Gov follow England’s lead and scrap the passport law.
My husband and I have had to postpone our wedding 4 times and we have missed out on so many gigs plus having our SKA band at our wedding cancel on us so I am beyond excited to see the specials tonight and we will be taking all the steps to keep ourselves and others feeling safe. Look forward to tonight! Lets get this show on the road!
sweet, have a blast x
Are the bars etc taking card now as well as cash?
cash only at the moment
Hi! Will your venue be impacted by the vaccine passport law coming on the 1st of October? I’m pregnant and by the time the shows comes I will have only had the baby 6/7 weeks prior so will only have had time
to get 1 vaccine before the gig.
I know you will follow the governments guidelines so not asking for clarification re my attendance , I am aware I will be penalised for not wanting to take a chance on the vaccine on my unborn baby ( not your fault) but before I give my ticket away I want to make sure the OCS gig in Dec will require proof of vaccination. Hope that makes sense.
It is all very new and we appreciate many people will not have time to get their second shot.
I am assuming that it will be enforced from that date but I will ask management about people in your predicament.
Good luck with the baby.
I asked management and we are waiting for confirmation from the Government and thanks for your patience.

I’m wanting to book tickets for jpeg in March next year. I’ll I’ll coming from England. Is there any restrictions or vaccine passport just England not doing them
You will need to provide proof of 2 vaccinations or a full PCR test
We have a gig in November but one of us has not been vaccinated. What are the rules?
Come 1 Oct you will need a full vaccine passport or PCR test to enter the building, as we are over 500 capacity
I have a concert in October but don’t have both vaccines. Will I be able to go if I provide a negative pcr test
Depends on your age if you are under 18 you are exempt at present.
There is no mention of PCR in the Gov guidance so we still do not know if we can accept that.
2 x vax is the best solution to guarentee entry

Hi.
We are coming up from England for the Nothing But Thieves gig on 11th October. We were hoping the vaccine passport would be scrapped like it was here. However, I see that Nicola Sturgeon announced yday that it will still go ahead from Friday.
Are you able to accept the digital covid pass that we have in England? Or are paper copies acceptable?
either or will be accepted
I will be attending the Peat and Diesel gig on Friday 8th October with my partner who is mask exempt for medical reasons .
She will , of course , be wearing an NHS Scotland exemption lanyard , as per your guidelines . What I would like to know is , as the Scottish government has now implemented the vaccine passport scheme (from October 1st) , does the venue accept the paper copy of the passport , as issued by NHS Scotland ?
Yes they will accept that in the short term, as per the Gov directive.
https://www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-mandatory-vaccine-certification/
Hi, I have a co next booked 19th Dec, I have not have my vacvine yet due to health condition. Am I ok to have a pcr test before the gig for entry?
as of 18 Oct only vaccine passports will be accepted for entry.
the industry has asked Gov to let us accept PCR tests but as yet this has not been agreed so unless that changes, they will not be accepted.
If you are vaccine exempt you should call the NHS Helpline or ask your local health centre for an exemption certificate, which you would need for entry.
We are asking all people to voluntarily take a free flow tests before coming to any show so they can enjoy it knowing they are not putting others at risk.
I understand venues are being granted a grace period until October 18th, so I guess this is now in your hands rather than the government’s? Will I need to show paper/digital evidence of double vax to attend gigs between now and the 18th, or will you not be checking/enforcing until that date either?
Many thanks, don’t envy some of the crap you must be getting. What a mess!

Coming to see the water boys on the 29th. Have had to get a paper copy of ‘vaccine passport’Doni need to bring the actual piece of paper or can I just take a photo of it and have it on my phone? Ta.
Better bringing the original, photos can be manipulated on photoshop.
Ok will do thanks. And thanks for the quick response. Been reading through some of the crap on here and you’ve really got your work cut out. I guess some of the folk expressing indignation need to remember that some of us have actually lost people through this. I work in the nhs and it’s long been a requirement for me to be fully vaccinated for HepB for example to protect others, so I have no sympathy for the anti vax brigade. Also, FYI, I’ve yet to advise anyone not to have a mask or get a vaccine on medical grounds. And yes, I am fully qualified to make those assessments. No apologies for hijacking this space to make the point. Small price to pay to get to a gig and enjoy live music again!
I can only imagine how frustrated the medical community must be after a year of trying to save people, thanks for your compassion and commonsense.
I live in Madrid and out local ice rink was a morgue twice last year so you see far less of that nonsense here and people are still wearing masks, despite restrictions being eased, because almost everyone knows a person that has died.
Enjoy the show.
Hi, I’ve got a ticket for the Manics on Tuesday. I’ve had both (Pfizer) jabs abroad. Do you accept covid passports from EU/EFTA countries?
Yes we will be accepting legal vaccination documents from UK and other countries
After 18 Oct you will not be allowed in the venue without proof of 2 CV19 Vaccinations.

Hi hope you can help, I have a ticket fof the Manics gig tonight and have been informed I may be asked for proof of vaccination. I have had both vaccines but only shows as 1 on the new NHS app, I have raised this to NHS to get this resolved. Does the solid requirement for proof of 2 vaccinations still only stand after the 18th? i.e. Will I have no issue getting in tonight?
yOu should be fine, we don’t do vax passports until 18 Oct
Hi there planning on attending nothing but thieves on the 11th are we required to have a vaccine passport or is it negative lateral flow

Hi, I am not double vaccinated yet due to contracting covid early on, and not being able to get the vaccine at the normal time. Does this mean I cannot attend a concert ?
If the concert is after 18 Oct and you are 18 or over, sadly not, as the law demands we don’t let people in without proof of 2 x vaccines or medical exemption.
Hopefully you can get your vax soon.
Hi, me and my friend are coming over from Northern Ireland, have both vaccines and we’ve got our vaccine cards as proof, is that enough to get entry into the Fontaines gig on the 19th?
yes
safe travels and enjoy the show
Hi I’m planning to go to JAMC concert on 15 November, I am fully vaccinated and have my vaccine certificate as a proof but not from the covid app (not vaccinated in Scotland). Will that be enough to get entry to the venue?
yes, paper is fine
Just making sure, I’m actually fully vaccinated internationally (in other country), the vaccine certificate is digital (not paper, it’s in an application). Will that be fine?
It should be as long as the app clearly states you are fully vax’d but if they have a way of p4ronting off a PDF or paper version that would help.
Are you accepting card payments at the bar?
Cheers
only in the downstairs bar
Hi there I am going to Patrick topping on Friday and I have my second jab on Tuesday but my passport might not be on the app in time what do you suggest thanks
Get a paper copy when you get the second jab
I’m coming to Don Broco tomorrow
I’m double vaxed and have the app but it will only be for 12 days, do you require full 14 days double vaxed?
Thanks
2 vax is fine
My friend and her husband both have a rare medical condition (they met via a support group) and due to a specific medication there consultant recommended they shouldn’t have vax. They both recently had covid and therefore are considered not to be infectious or contagious. There is no real policy in place for vaccine exemption, would a letter from gp or consultant do? Also do they need to actually disclose the medical condition on it?
Yes a letter from a GP would be fine and no they do not have to show a reason for exemption, just that they are exempt.
